Shiftctl vs Opsgenie
Opsgenie is sunsetting. Shiftctl routes the alerts AND runs the handover — in the schedule your team already works from.
Opsgenie reaches end-of-life in April 2027. Shiftctl now routes and escalates alerts to your on-call engineer over SMS, voice call, Slack, email, and push — and unlike Opsgenie, every alert carries into a structured shift handover. The only paging gap is an inbound number clients can dial, so teams that need that keep a dialer alongside; everyone else gets scheduling, paging, and accountability in one actively developed tool.
The bottom line
Migrating off Opsgenie means picking where alerting lives next. Shiftctl covers the routing and escalation — over SMS, voice, Slack, email and push — and adds enforced sign-offs, per-client noise reporting, and handovers that never drop an open alert. That last part, nothing else on your shortlist does. Unless you need an inbound number clients can dial, it can be the whole answer.
Common questions
Is Opsgenie being shut down?
Atlassian ended new Opsgenie signups on June 4, 2025, and existing customers have until April 5, 2027. Atlassian is steering customers toward Jira Service Management for on-call and alerting.
Can I use Shiftctl as an Opsgenie replacement?
For many MSP teams, yes. Shiftctl (Enterprise plan) ingests alerts from your RMM and monitoring tools, routes them to the engineer on call, and escalates over SMS, voice call (press 1 to acknowledge), Slack, email, and push until acknowledged — plus the structured handover layer Opsgenie never had. The honest gap: Shiftctl pages out but does not take inbound calls, so if you need a number clients can dial you will still want a dialer for that piece.
Can I import my Opsgenie schedule into Shiftctl?
Yes. Export your Opsgenie schedule as an iCal feed and import it into Shiftctl. You can do a one-time import or set up ongoing sync.
What alert sources does Shiftctl support?
ConnectWise RMM & Automate, N-able N-central & N-sight, PRTG, and a generic webhook that accepts JSON from any tool — plus heartbeat monitors for backup jobs and scheduled tasks. Alerts deduplicate automatically, respect maintenance windows, and auto-resolve when the source recovers.
Does Shiftctl integrate with Jira Service Management?
Not currently. Shiftctl integrates with PSAs used by MSPs (ConnectWise PSA, Autotask, HaloPSA) and supports PagerDuty schedule sync. Jira Service Management integration is not on the current roadmap.
