Shiftctl vs Squadcast
Squadcast — now SolarWinds Incident Response — is a full SRE incident platform. Shiftctl is on-call handovers plus MSP alert routing and PSA sync.
Squadcast and Shiftctl both do on-call scheduling, paging and escalation, so they land on the same shortlist. But Squadcast (now part of SolarWinds) is a broad SRE incident-management platform for internal teams, while Shiftctl focuses on MSP on-call — routing RMM alerts to the engineer on call, syncing tickets to your PSA, and carrying every open alert into a structured shift handover. Here is where each one genuinely wins.
The bottom line
Squadcast is the stronger choice if you want the full SRE incident lifecycle — SLO tracking, status pages, runbooks, 200+ integrations, ServiceNow sync, and inbound Live Call Routing on Enterprise — especially inside the SolarWinds ecosystem. Shiftctl is the stronger choice for MSPs: RMM alert routing on the same schedule your handovers run on, native ConnectWise/Autotask/HaloPSA ticket sync, per-client QBR reporting, and enforced sign-offs that keep alerts from dying between shifts. Match the tool to your core job.
Common questions
Is Squadcast still available?
Yes. SolarWinds acquired Squadcast (announced March 2025) and now sells it as SolarWinds Incident Response. It is actively developed and the app still lives at app.squadcast.com; the pricing page now redirects to solarwinds.com. So it is a current, supported product — not a sunsetting one.
Which one is right for my team?
If you are an internal SRE or DevOps team that wants the full incident lifecycle — SLO tracking, status pages, runbooks, postmortems and a large integration catalog, ideally alongside SolarWinds observability — Squadcast is built for that. If you are an MSP that needs RMM alerts routed to the on-call engineer, tickets synced to ConnectWise, Autotask or HaloPSA, per-client reporting for QBRs, and structured shift handovers, Shiftctl is built for that.
What does Squadcast do better than Shiftctl?
Several things, honestly. Squadcast has a deep, mature paging stack with native worldwide SMS and voice and low per-notification overage; a full SRE suite (SLO tracker, status pages, runbooks, incident workflows); 200+ native alert-source integrations plus ServiceNow bidirectional sync; and — relevant to Shiftctl’s one gap — an Enterprise Live Call Routing add-on that accepts inbound calls. If those matter to you, Squadcast is the stronger fit.
Does Squadcast integrate with my PSA?
As of July 2026, Squadcast lists a native HaloPSA integration (plus ServiceNow, Freshservice, Jira and Zendesk), but ConnectWise and Autotask are not listed as native integrations. Shiftctl integrates directly with ConnectWise PSA, Autotask and HaloPSA with bidirectional ticket status sync.
